About TapeCalcs
Updated
TapeCalcs is a set of free calculators and guides for working out how much building material to order: lumber, roofing, paving, masonry and drywall. It is built and maintained by M. Humza.
How the calculators are made
Every calculator runs on one shared set of formulas. Each formula is written down with test cases first, and the code has to pass those tests before a page goes live. The same formulas power the TapeCalcs mobile app, so the website and the app give the same answer.
Material figures, such as the weight of asphalt per cubic foot or the yield of a bag of concrete, are never typed from memory. Each one comes from a manufacturer spec sheet, a trade association or a building code, and the site will not build if a figure is missing its source. You can see every figure and where it came from on How we calculate.
Found a mistake?
If a result looks wrong for your job, email hello@tapecalcs.com with the page, the numbers you entered and what you expected. Corrections are made to the formula and its tests, so the fix reaches every page and the app at once.
